I spent 13 years working in emergency nursing.

Fast decisions. High-pressure environments. People in their worst moments. Teams that had to work together — or things went badly wrong.

What I noticed — in every shift, every handover, every difficult conversation — was that the technical skills were almost never the problem. It was always the human stuff.

Leaders who couldn't give feedback without it turning into a fight. Teams that avoided hard conversations until resentment built. People who were technically excellent but struggled to manage up, communicate clearly, or stay regulated under pressure.

I started doing something about it. In my later years in nursing — alongside eight years in management — I developed and ran workshops inside the hospital, teaching communication, emotional intelligence, resilience, and conflict management to nurses, team leaders, and frontline staff. I did it because I believed it mattered. The feedback told me I was onto something.

In 2024 I was recognised as a finalist for the Staff Engagement and Well-Being Award. And I knew it was time to take this further.

That's what Daniel Halls Co. is. Practical human skills training for real workplaces. Not polished theory — but the tools people actually use the next day. I've worked with 600+ participants across childcare, healthcare, allied health, trades, and corporate settings.

If your team is struggling with communication, navigating conflict, or trying to step up into leadership — this is the work.

How Dan trains.

Everything about the way Dan facilitates comes directly from his frontline experience — what works under pressure, what people remember, and what actually changes behaviour.

Tailored, not templated

Every session is built around your team's real environment. No generic slides. No one-size-fits-all approach. The language, scenarios and examples are specific to where your people work.

Practical, not theoretical

Tools you can use the same day. Real strategies drawn from real experience — not academic frameworks that sound good but don't survive contact with a difficult Monday morning.

Memorable, not forgettable

Training that sticks. Participants remember it, talk about it and actually use it weeks and months later. That's the measure that matters.

Frequently asked questions

Why did you start Daniel Halls Co.?

Dan is still working as an emergency nurse alongside running Daniel Halls Co. The business grew directly out of his healthcare leadership experience — after years in emergency departments and management roles, he kept seeing the same pattern: technically skilled people who struggled with the human side of their work. He started running workshops inside the hospital to address it, and the response told him there was something worth building on. Daniel Halls Co. is the next step in that work — bringing practical human skills training to teams beyond the hospital.

What experience do you bring to the training room?

Thirteen years as a registered nurse, the majority of that in critical care and emergency settings, with eight years in leadership and management roles. I developed and delivered human skills training internally before founding Daniel Halls Co. In 2024 I was recognised as a finalist for the Staff Engagement and Well-Being Award. Since starting the business, I've worked with 600+ participants across childcare, healthcare, allied health, trades, and corporate settings.

What shaped the way you train and facilitate?

Emergency nursing teaches you to read a room fast. You learn to stay regulated under pressure, give clear direction without creating more anxiety, and have difficult conversations with people who are scared or upset. When I started facilitating, I brought that directly into the room. I keep sessions practical and grounded. No academic theory, no corporate fluff — just tools people can use the next day in real situations.

Who has Dan worked with?

Dan has delivered workshops to teams across childcare, healthcare, allied health, trades, and corporate sectors throughout Victoria and beyond. Every session is tailored to the sector's specific environment — language, examples, and scenarios are adapted so the training feels relevant to the people in the room, not generic.
